That time of year is here once again – when Melbourne’s beer buffs and brewers come out of the woodwork for two weeks of damn good beer experiences and chatter.

It is, of course, Good Beer Week. With over 250 events to choose from, making the perfect itinerary can be a pretty daunting task. Here’s our pick of some of the best of the bunch:

 

BRIDGE ROAD TO MUMBAI #3 at Horn Please, North Fitzroy

This tasty collaboration between Fitzroy North’s local Indian gem, Horn Please, and Bridge Road Brewers is the ideal GBW event for those who love their food, love their beer and love it, even more, when they are equally celebrated. This Indian feast is paired with a selection of Bridge Road beers, including a special release brew just for the event.

BREWERS AND CHEWERS at The Local Taphouse, St Kilda East

Imagine speed dating with world-class brewers. Yep, that’s what’s in store at The Local Taphouse with visitors from the UK, US, Vietnam and NZ coming in hot to answer your burning brewing questions and enjoy a mighty fine bite to eat while you’re at it.

SYSTEM WARS: CARNIVAL OF THE BREW at Grain and Grape, Yarraville

Witness the professionals at work with some of the latest and greatest technology at Grain and Grape. From home brewing systems to discussions of current brewing trends catering for rookies to aficionados alike, if you want to learn the lingo, here’s where to start.

GOOD BEER GELATERIA at Arbory Bar and Eatery, Melbourne

If there’s ever been a time to gorge out on a triple scoop ice cream, it’s now. Arbory’s Head Chef Nick Bennett has blessed GBW with a beer flavoured gelato… every day… for a whole week…

THE PERFECT PIZZA BEER at Lazerpig, Collingwood  

Pizza and Beer – need we say more? This collab between Lazerpig and 3 Ravens Brewery will answer the age-old questions of the best pizza and brew pairings.

FEMPOCALYPSE at Two Birds Brewing, Spotswood

This one’s for all the gals out there who are partial to a cheeky beer – we’re talking female brewers, artists, musicians among a bunch of others coming together to celebrate the bright future of women in the beer industry.

MUM’STHE WORD at Stomping Ground, Collingwood

Ever seen your mum brew beer? Probably not. The team at Stomping Ground, however, have – treating their mums to a brew day and treating you to joys of that brew. Not to mention, mums get a bev on the house!

BREW FOR TOMORROW at Vue De Monde, Melbourne

Vue De Monde, Stone and Wood and a little guest all the way from Byron Bay, Three Blue Ducks are coming together for a one-night-only event with 6 decadent courses and matched beers. Go on, treat yourself.

FROM BREWS TO BOOZE – TURNING BEER INTO SPIRITS at The Craft & Co., Collingwood

Craft & Co has the unique opportunity to combine their part brewing and part distilling finesse to make acclaimed spirits from beer. Visitors can taste the process along the way, from beer to distilled spirit to the final product in cocktail form.

BBQ AND BREWS at Wilson & Market, South Yarra

Paul Wilson has teamed up with Ben Kraus of Bridge Road Brewery for one delicious night only. Brimming with slow-cooked meats, charcuterie and a gourmand’s dream barbeque array, all the eats will be teamed up with Bridge Road’s craft brews, including a limited edition purple corn beer (more on that here).

KARAOKE: THE RETURN at Moon Dog Craft Brewery, Abbotsford

PERFECT MATCH: CHEESE & BEER at Milk The Cow, Carlton
