8th-9th of June 2018
For over 40 years, the Winery Walkabout festival has taken over the Rutherglen region for an annual celebration of some of the best north-east Victorian wine and produce.
This year it is just getting bigger and better with 19 wineries participating in the 2-day festival. Spend your Saturday on a wine trail around the region’s top estates. Every winery will be putting on a show, from wine tastings to masterclasses, vintage tastings and tours of the estates. There’ll also be a fair few cellar doors opening up to strut their stuff and offer some delicious winter eats to sink your teeth into. All Saints Estate is taking on a Mexican street food theme, Campbells Wines is flipping Dutch pancakes and at Warrabilla, it’s all about the slow barbeque brisket. Those with a sweet tooth should head to Andrew Buller Wines for a Rutherglen Muscat affogato, or a Rutherglen Durif chocolate cupcake (or ten) from Lake Moodemere Estate.
Come Sunday, head into the town centre for a 300-stall strong market, complete with a carnival and kid’s activities galore. Here’s where you’ll find the Great Australian Barrel Rolling Competition and Grape Stomp, so you can get down and dirty with the best in the winemaking biz.
Tickets to Winery Walkabout range from $30 – $149 depending on which perks you decide to treat yourself to. Read up on all the info and book your tickets here.
