We’ve all been that friend who gets a little overexcited about the night noodle markets to the point that it ends up being an ‘undo the top button of your jeans’ kind of night. If you’ve seen the culinary line-up for Canberra’s upcoming Good Food Month Night Noodle Markets, you’ll know it’s time to prepare yourself to be this friend. If you haven’t, there’s still time.

The first weekend of March is going to be a tasty one in the nation’s capital. With over 20 gourmet stalls, each bringing a handful of their most popular dishes, it’s safe to say that you’ll be spoilt for choice. Chur Burgers, Korean Chicken from Korbq, Mr Bao crackling pork fries and fluffy karaage chicken bao as well as Vietnamese burritos from Little Kyoto x Pho Real will get you started. Follow it up with fresh waffles with caramel syrup and lychees from Waffleland, or Black Star Pastry’s iconic strawberry watermelon cake. Mailing it in early is simply not an option.

Night Market stalwart Gelato Messina will also be delivering in spades, as usual. Their Japanese Gameshow dessert stand will keep you on your toes as you balance your Kamikaze Katsu Sandwich (a deep-fried gelato katsu sandwich with sudachai lime gelato coated in red velvet cake and panko crumbs, drizzled with yuzu sauce and sandwiched between white bread) in one hand, and spin the Useless Wheel of Spinning Happiness with the other. One spin begs the question – which useless prize will you win? A hello kitty tattoo or a pair of chopsticks?

The markets are cashless (less queueing, more noodling), little-people friendly and pooch-friendly. You know the drill, all that’s left to do is eat to your heart’s (and your jeans’) content.
