For the hospitality gurus at Trippas White Group, Portside is another feather in their cap. The team is known for creating memorable dining experiences at prime locations throughout the city, including Botanic Gardens Restaurant and 360 Bar and Dining.

Lauren Murdoch joined the Portside team as Head Chef, entrusted with creating dishes that complement the spectacular surrounds. The menu is certainly in safe hands; Lauren is widely renowned as one of Sydney’s best female chefs. Throughout her 22-year culinary career, the former nurse has gained numerous Chef Hats and worked throughout some of Sydney’s most well-known restaurants including Rockpool, 3 Weeds, MG Garage, Ash St. Cellar and Felix, as well as appearing on MasterChef.

Now leading the Portside team, Lauren uses her long-held connections with producers and her commitment to the freshest seasonal produce to create innovative menus, while also staying true to some perennial favourites.

Walk along Sydney’s stunning colonnade and stop at Portside to enjoy breakfast with a view, in the form of bircher muesli and flaky pastries. If you’re in a hurry, Portside’s theatre bar provides grab-and-go options, including yoghurt and granola, wraps, baguettes and more.

Later in the day, start your picturesque dining experience with one of the team’s signature recipes – the aptly named Lauren’s Chicken Liver Pate is served with currant relish, cornichons and toast from Sonoma. For a light meal that’s lively and refreshing, it’s hard to go past the watermelon salad with a classic combination of marinated feta, ginger and mint.

Larger meals include the Atlantic salmon with artichokes and broad beans, drizzled with saffron-tomato vinaigrette, or succulent lamb shanks with crushed peas, spring onion and mint salsa. Younger diners are more than welcome at Portside; there are plenty of options to keep their developing palates happy.

If you’re after a sweet treat to conclude your evening, cast your eyes over the dessert options. Old favourites have been given a tempting facelift – raspberry jelly is served with nectarine and lemon cream, and there’s also a delicious combination of strawberry, rhubarb and almond crumb served with strawberry ice cream.

Each year during January, Portside Sydney Opera House transforms into a summer-themed pop-up bar, while during winter the iconic eatery provides the perfect spot to watch the city’s lights during Vivid – Sydney’s 23-day annual lighting festival.
