For commuters, finding a lunch as fresh and healthy as it is delicious (without straying too far from the office) can be a challenge. So North Sydney dwellers will be pleased to know their lunch prayers have been answered – in the form of a Nudefish Poké bowl.
Nudefish is the brainchild of co-founders James Nathan and Tom Walton (who we can thank for the Bondi gem, The Bucket List). Together, the duo has established Nudefish in light of their ‘boat to bowl’ philosophy, which ensures that every bowl is crafted with the finest quality ingredients. Thanks to John Susman and the team at Fishtales providing catches like Mt Cook Alpine Salmon and Albacore Tuna, you can also indulge with the peace of mind that all seafood is sustainably caught and harvested.
“It’s a simple model,” says Tom, “Our food is ‘nude’, there’s nothing to hide behind. Each ingredient is prepared with that in mind.”
There’s no denying that this simple model is deservedly effective, with six crafted poké variations to choose from or the option to build your own. Opt for a ‘cult classic’ like the wasabi salmon with pickled carrots, furikake, wasabi peas and shredded beetroot atop a bed of your choice of brown rice, baby kale and cabbage salad, kelp noodles or rice noodle salad, drizzled in their house-made wasabi ponzu sauce. Go all out and add a generous dollop of avo and you’ve found yourself a lovely midday meal to keep you sustained throughout the workday.
If you’re feeling creative, select one of the various bases, with proteins from salmon to tuna sashimi, poached chicken, biodynamic tofu and beyond, topped with fresh veggies and trimmings like crispy onions, tamari almonds and just about anything a good poké bowl warrants. If that sashimi life just isn’t for you, Nudefish has you covered with the option to blowtorch fish varieties ‘aburi’ style to add to your bowl. The menu in its entirety is gluten-free, with vegetarians and vegans well-catered for.
The ideal addition to a healthy lunch is an equally nourishing sweet treat in the form of Nudefish’s very own nut mylk shakes and cold pressed juices. Whether you’re a green juice fiend opting for a concoction of kale, kiwi, apple, celery, cucumber and spinach, or you prefer to sip on a chocolate mylk shake with organic cacao and maca or even an activated charcoal lemonade, no sweet tooth will be left unsatisfied.
You’ll find Nudefish in the newly renovated food court at Greenwood Plaza. Just look out for the fresh salmon-inspired fit-out and the line of loyal frequenters waiting for their daily feed, and you’ll know it when you see it. For those across the bridge in the CBD, Nudefish hasn’t forgotten about you. Head to Martin Place and follow your nose to this fresh seafood offering within the MLC Centre.
