It wouldn't look out of place on a list of Sydney's most iconic attractions, and it regularly tops lists of best places to dine in, and be seen in, in Sydney. But Icebergs Dining Room is much more than just a hip hangout or quintessential watering hole.

Icebergs Dining Room in Bondi would not look out of place on a list of Sydney’s most iconic attractions, and it regularly tops reviews on the best places to dine in and be seen in, in Sydney. However, Icebergs is much more than just a hip hangout and quintessential watering hole.

Having well and truly earned its reputation in the upper echelons of good taste, Bondi’s iconic Icebergs has advanced the perception of Italian food and shaken up the way Australians now eat it. With an ever-changing menu focused on regional Italian cuisine and seasonal flavours, the intimate and elegant Dining Room is the beating heart of the Bondi food scene.

With its sleek and modern beachy aesthetic and a view that stretches out across the crystal blue waters of Bondi, you would be hard-pressed to find a better spot for a long lunch on a sunny day in Sydney. Icebergs Dining Room does luxury and does it well, but somehow, still manages to exude a relaxed and laid-back vibe. After all, it’s hard not to be chilled out when the biggest decision of the day is what cocktail to start with and whether you’d like the Sydney Rock or perhaps the Pacific oysters.

A meal at Icebergs traditionally begins with a selection of bites from the Antipasti menu and from here, you will find yourself torn between your choice of pasta or their cooked-to-perfection meats. Whether you opt for the Ink Spaghetti with WA blue swimmer crab, Sorbello tomato and basil, or Roasted Lamb Loin served with brussels sprouts, poached artichoke and black garlic sauce – food envy is not off the menu!

Inspired by the director, Maurice Terzini’s Italian heritage, the menu is designed to give you a seasonally changing opportunity to sample dishes that reflect the depth of Italian cuisine. Under the careful guidance of Icebergs’ Head Chef, Monty Koludrovic, each dish is created with these Italian values in mind, sourcing the best possible produce, including sustainable seafood, artisan-produced small-goods and the occasional hint of native Australia, just for context.

Maurice is best known for stamping his indelible mark and style on both the Sydney and Melbourne dining experiences. Born to Italian parents in Melbourne, early years spent back in Italy cemented in him a love of his culture and heritage, awakening a life-long passion for Italian hospitality. At the age of 23, Maurice opened his first venture, Caffe e Cucina on Melbourne’s iconic Chapel Street, with the cafe radically altering perceptions and conventions around the dining scene at the time.

A string of successful hospitality ventures has since followed, topped off with Icebergs Dining Room and Bar on the stunning cliffs of Bondi in 2002. More than 16 years from its opening, Icebergs remains a pinnacle of style and dining in Australia, something that does not look to be changing in the years to come.
