The Garden Bar at The Golden Sheaf
429 New South Head Rd, Double Bay NSW 2028

The Garden Bar is the new and improved hang out spot in Double Bay’s favoured pub, and it’s the perfect place for your next night out.
The Golden Sheaf is one of the distinguished pubs in Sydney’s eastern suburbs, and its famous beer garden hosts an ancient shade tree with hanging greenery. Indoors you can also find the Deck Bar, the Monsteria Room, the Midas Room, the Courtyard Lounge and the newly renovated Garden Bar, all unique dining and drinking spots.
The star of the show must be the re-vamped Garden Bar. Alexander & Co, the masterminds behind hot spots such as Daniel San and The Morrison, are responsible for the new design, which perfectly compliments its offerings of cocktails and share plates.
The drinks list is comprehensive but if you’re after something fresh, try the signature cocktail, the Garden Spritz – it is made from St Germain, limoncello, cucumber, strawberry lemon and ginger ale. After a couple of drinks you can thank Head Chef, Matt Weller, for the excellent food offerings. The menu includes the Sheaf wagyu burger, and a prawn, chilli, spinach, garlic, zucchini and parmesan pizza, among other culinary delights. It has been designed to add an “injection of lightness, freshness and seasonality” to your standard pub food, said Director of Operations, Bede Hunt.
Bede also says that at the Garden Bar “the idea is to fall into the rabbit hole”, it promises to provide a sense of romance and mysticism as well as a good time. In addition to quality food and drink there is live music on offer too. Jazz musicians get the cool vibes going and bands and DJs keep the dancefloor populated.
So if you are looking for a good time, whether for a beer with mates after work, a family dinner, or kick starting a weekend adventure, The Golden Sheaf and it’s new Garden Bar has everything you could ever need and then some.
