Sydneysiders who live for long summer days, soaking up the sunshine with a crisp glass of wine and delicious food, or hanker for an Instagram-worthy brunch in one of Sydney’s freshest suburbs, are set to be gratified with Potts Point’s newcomer – Fountain.
A melting pot of top tier produce, buzzing ambience and high-quality service, you’ll soon begin to wonder how you went this long without it.
As per its namesake, you’ll find Fountain directly across from the El Alamein Fountain on the corner of Darlinghurst Road and Macleay Street. You can thank ACME&Co. for the design, taking into consideration their vibrant locale on the fringe of Kings Cross and Potts Point and adding contemporary touches that are a nod to the area’s 1930s art deco history.
A trip to Fountain can mean munching from dawn till dusk, with breakfast, brunch, dinner, deserts, snacks and sides in plentiful offerings. Start your day the nourishing way with Fountain’s ginger-soaked Bilpin apple bircher muesli with honey, yogurt and apple cinnamon compote and an antioxidant rich cold pressed juice, supplied daily by local producer Simon Says. Brunch is served from midday, with crowd favourites like the Philly Steak Sandwich served with Chilli fries and a black truffle infused wild mushroom risotto stealing the show. Graze from afternoon into night with a bite or two of the chilli prawn pizza with grilled zucchini and chilli infused tiger prawns, or a selection of Fountain’s tasty tacos from tempura fish to pulled lamb. Your sweet tooth hasn’t been forgotten, the house made chocolate brownie with beetroot sorbet, jelly and ganache sprinkled with granola is just the ticket.
It wouldn’t be alfresco dining without a glass of wine in hand, and come springtime, Fountain will be doubling as a premium wine bar. Their extensive wine list will have you well and truly sorted, so you can spend the day working your way through their stellar selection of premium reds, whites and sparkling. Alternatively, shake things up with a cocktail or two, like the full flavoured smoked Negroni with Tanqueray gin, Campari and Antica formula served in a smoked rock glass, or the floral flavoured Green Arrow with Hendricks gin and St. Germaine elderflower liqueur topped with hints of apple and cucumber. Their in-house roasted coffee will also be brewed from am to pm, boasting a high-quality espresso blend with a distinctive rich character.
With a menu this versatile, you’ll no doubt be checking in time and time again so you can have a taste of everything. A word to the wise – the early bird catches the worm and this is definitely one you want to catch, so get in there early to beat the crowds that will undoubtedly be following.
