In the heart of Surry Hills, all things coffee-related find a home at Paramount Coffee Project (PCP). With its bright and crisp interior, combined with the sweet scent of freshly roasted coffee, PCP calls you to settle in for the day and watch, learn and enjoy.

PCP is the brainchild of Jin Ng of Paramount House, Mark Dundon, Seven Seeds’ Head Roaster and Russell Beard of Reuben Hills. Located in the foyer of Paramount House, the heritage-listed, former screening room for Paramount Pictures, this space has moved beyond its Hollywood legacy to dedicate itself solely to educating visitors on everything there is to know about coffee and brewing. The trio opened PCP’s doors in 2013 to showcase a range of approaches to providing top tier coffee. Since then they have explored every style from espresso to filter, batch brews and blends whilst educating their loyal followers along the way.

An ode to the blessed bean, PCP’s house blend is on constant rotation to highlight a range of different flavours, providers and regional characteristics. Examples include the Reuben Hills’ OG Blend that uses Guatemalan beans that feature hints of milk chocolate and caramel, or the Colombian Beusaco blend with peach and hazelnut notes that pair beautifully with milk. Filter brews span the likes of Kenyan beans with fruity blackcurrant, apricot and maple flavours. While you never know what you’ll get when you walk into PCP on any given day, you can be assured that its of the utmost quality, and the integrity of the bean is centre stage.

Every good coffee is best enjoyed with a delicious meal, and PCP has you covered with their creative all-day menu. Kick start the morning with a BKE Breaky Roll, putting a playful spin on the classic egg and bacon with PCP’s house-made barbeque sauce, garlic scrambled eggs, kale, bacon and avocado. If your sweet tooth needs satisfying, opt for the Buttermilk Friend Chicken Waffles, with maple bacon gravy, chilli pickled apple, charred radicchio, roasted hazelnuts and chipotle aioli, hitting the ideal balance of sweet and spicy.

For those who love to brunch but aren’t coffee-lovers, don’t be put off by the name. A selection of TeaCraft brews like the mint vanilla or the lemon, myrtle and ginger are relaxing hot options, while delicious smoothies, milkshakes and cold pressed juices by Rainy Lane are also in plentiful supply. The Salted Pistachio and Nutella milkshake is, for obvious reasons, an undoubted crowd pleaser, or for something fruity, the mango crush with coconut water and mint will keep you feeling nourished and refreshed throughout the day.

Pull up a seat at one of the large communal tables with the paper and a fresh cup of brew, or take up outside in the sunshine with your four legged friends, who are welcomed with open arms. With great coffee, buzzing ambience and passionate staff equipped to answer any coffee query, don’t be surprised if you come for a quick coffee and end up staying for the day.
