Sometimes all you need is a bowl of hand-made pasta with rich, slow-cooked bolognese, or a crispy pizza topped with mozzarella and basil to warm your soul. When these cravings hit, head straight to Jamie’s Italian Singapore, where these home-cooked dishes, with the signature Jamie Oliver twist, will be making their way to your table in no time.
Beginning as a partnership between Jamie Oliver and his mentor, Gennaro Contaldo, Jamie’s Italian was born in the early 2000s. The concept was derived from the two friends’ shared love for Italian cuisine and has grown in leaps and bounds ever since.
Jamie’s Italian now boasts restaurants in every corner of the world, with both Jamie and Gennaro still heavily involved in each location. While they may be spread across the globe, Jamie’s Italian is still one big family, with each retaining that welcoming, friendly look and feel.
Executive Chef, Gary Clarke, is the leader of the pack in South East Asia, overseeing culinary development and operations, including Jamie Italian’s menu. Along with Ashley Lim, Jamie’s Italian VivoCity Head Chef, he has created an offering that celebrates fresh, sustainable and seasonal ingredients, with an emphasis on rustic, home-style fare.
Both Gary and Ashley strives to impart their culinary knowledge and skills onto the passionate team. Each day, they prepare fresh pasta on custom Ferrari-red machines before using the dough to create hearty and delicious dishes. To sample one of the more traditional pasta dishes, try Gennaro’s Tagliatelle Bolognese – slow-cooked pork and beef in red wine, topped with Pangrattato and Parmesan cheese, while seafood lovers should head straight for the famous Garlicky Prawn Linguine with fennel, tomato, chilli and rocket.
If pasta doesn’t tickle your fancy, select a hearty meal from the main menu. There is something for everyone among the selection, including the Jamie’s Italian Burger and the Chicken al Mattone – free- range chicken grilled under a brick and served with creamy mushroom sauce.
For those with a sweet tooth, the restaurant offers an exceptional selection of Italian-inspired desserts, including Lemon Meringue Cheesecake and the Epic Chocolate Brownie, served with caramelised Amaretti popcorn.
The wine list follows the same simple, rustic trend as the food offerings with a primary focus on Italian drops, alongside wine from well known regions like Marlborough. If you’re after something a little more exciting to drink, cast your eyes upon the epic cocktaillist–you’llfindaneclecticmixof classics and innovative creations.
The much-loved food and drink is also available at Jamie’s Italian Forum in the city’s south. Boasting a similar, cosy and friendly ambience, the second restaurant offers a welcome relief from the hustle of the surrounding shopping mall.
For authentic Italian fare with a Jamie Oliver twist, there’s no going past Jamie’s Italian. Designed with a relaxed vibe in mind, the family friendly restaurant is a place where people come to relax, share in each other’s company and enjoy the delicious fare on offer.
