Tuck’s Ridge in Red Hill is an award winning boutique estate, and one of the oldest in the region. It has been lauded by none other than James Halliday and, since 1989, has been producing top-notch cool-climate wines for all Australians to savour.
While Mornington Peninsula’s wineries are upping the ante by becoming more and more glam with their sculpture parks, degustation menus and impressive architect-designed structures, one of the region’s older wineries is taking another tack.
The owners of Tucks Ridge have decided to slow things down and bring casual dining back with a Summer Pop Up. An afternoon of wine and sunshine shouldn’t only be reserved for special occasions and that is exactly the thinking that led John and Wendy Mitchell to launch the Tucks Ridge Summer Pop Up.
Long-time owners of Tucks Ridge’s award-winning neighbour venue, Montalto Estate, the Mitchells are very in touch with the Red Hill area. They know what makes the locals tick and they know why tourists just can’t get enough of this picturesque part of Victoria. The Summer Pop Up, for them, is a chance to create a contemporary wine experience that reflects a new generation of wine lovers, making wine tasting a much more approachable and enjoyable experience.
The food offering is centred around the outdoor rotisserie. Meals consist of small snack-size dishes as well as larger plates of meats, fresh from the rotisserie and, of course, a selection of hearty salads. Enjoy your meal on the expansive Tucks Ridge deck or as a picnic on the grass, overlooking Red Hill’s iconic ridge line and sweeping vineyards. A crisp glass of Tucks wine or even a wine cocktail jug will make you stretch a lunch date out to day long affair.
Summertime wines have never been more appealing, thanks to the new and improved Tucks Ridge. The best news is that the pop up is set to be extended, so don’t stress that the end of summer will mean that this place will be shutting its doors, it’s sticking around!
A day spent taking in that stunning valley view while basking in the warm summer sunshine, wine glass in hand of course, is the recipe for a perfect weekend. So, does a little road trip to Red Hill look like it’s on the cards soon?
