Campana’s Stockade Cellars has been supplying quality food and wine to the people of Ballarat for over 35 years. The business was started by Hector Pidutti and Peter Campana, who with their wives (twin sisters Joan and Silvia), bought three then-named William Ritchie Supermarkets. Ultimately, two of the stores were sold off and in 1992 the remaining store changed to become 100% liquor. Current owners Tony and Leanne Campana took over the store in 2000, and in 2006 added a delicatessen to complement the fine wine range.
When asked to describe what Campana’s means to them, the Campanas offered “We are an independent fine wine retailer with a special selection of fine cheeses and gourmet meats, pates, and terrines, sourdough bread, and selected seasonal condiments”.
Located in the centre of Ballarat, Campana’s Stockade Cellars is the perfect meeting place to enjoy a cup of coffee, cake and chat with a friend. If it’s quiet time you’re after, come and take a seat at the long table, and enjoy a light lunch
over the magazines and newspapers provided. Perusing the wine and produce on offer is a treat for all the senses, and the team here will happily help you select the perfect goodies to take home, whatever the occasion may be.
At the end of each month Campana’s hosts a delightful ‘Shared Table’ dinner at the delicatessen. Local chef/caterer Peter Ford prepares a 2 course meal, to be enjoyed by the 25 or so guests each month. With the help of the Campana’s
staff, you get to select your wine from the huge range of local, interstate and international bottles on offer. The dinners are loved by all those who come – from the beautiful food served by Peter Ford, to the selection of wine from the
Cellars, to the wonderful hospitality of the Campanas – it’s all about having fun and taking pleasure in the food and wine that surrounds you.
It’s a family affair at Campana’s – Tony and Leanne are born and bred in Ballarat, as are their three children, daughter Meg, and twin sons Lou and Serge, who help out in the store. The family loves what they do and it is evident in the quality of produce and service on show at the Cellars.
