Drive an hour out of Melbourne to find a wellbeing retreat that has it all. Perched in Red Hill on the stunning Mornington Peninsula is Hummingbird Eco Retreat. It’s here that you can re-energise your mind and body and let nature do its thing.

Hummingbird Eco Retreat opened its doors, or should we say farm gates, five years ago. The four-acre, eco-friendly retreat is the neighbour to 72 acres of National Trust property that offers scenic bush walks through the spectacular flora and fauna. Owner, Scott Davies, is passionate about commercial business co-existing with the environment and so the retreat runs on the values of healthy living, sustainability, connection and community. In doing so it has created a wellbeing retreat like no other.

What better place to practice the art of movement and meditation than amongst the serenity of nature? Hummingbird offers a range of meditation and yoga classes to suit any experience level. The retreat mainly practices in Hatha and Iyengar yoga, conducted in a purpose-built space to take advantage of the picturesque surrounds. Speaking of nature, the meditation classes are ideal for those who want to escape their frantic schedule and turn their focus to the tranquillity of the property.

You can also re-energise your mind and body in a different way at the retreat’s day spa. Here you can treat yourself to massages and facials with certified organic products. But the body healing doesn’t stop there – there’s a range of Naturopathic services and seminars available to learn how to look after your wellbeing.

If you’re re-energising your body you might as well look after your insides while you’re at it. The award winning Harvest Garden Restaurant is the perfect space to while away a few hours, with recycled timber tables, a high-pitched roof with exposed beams and a bluestone fireplace. The menu changes regularly depending on what’s growing in the property’s edible gardens, and is vegetarian and vegan friendly. You will also find duck, chicken and fish dishes available. Anything that has not been grown on the property’s biodynamically principled gardens is sourced from local and ethical producers from around the

Mornington Peninsula. Can’t get enough of the natural surroundings? Why not book in for a picnic or farm table so you can take in the serene surroundings while indulging in specially prepared food. If you love what you’re tasting you can also take part in a cooking or gardening class. Learn the team’s secrets and replicate their wellbeing mantra at home.

Feeling like you can’t fit it all into one day? Not to worry! The retreat also has accommodation facilities, you can make a weekend out of it and treat yourself to some serenity and relaxation.
