Le Péché Gourmand
69a Albert Street, Creswick, VIC

Having only opened in late-March this year, Paul and Marie Williams have been busy building their traditional French boulangerie patisserie, Le Péché Gourmand, and embracing the local community. Already a must-see in the Daylesford and Macedon Tourism’s Official Visitor’s Guide and the Tasty Little Touring Map, Le Péché Gourmand is quickly becoming an essential foodie stop for the area.
Le Péché Gourmand is located in beautiful Creswick, a picturesque town located just 15 minutes north of Ballarat.
Paul, a qualified baker, developed his baking foundations with apprenticeships at Woolworths in Parkes, NSW and Baker’s Delight in Canberra. He then moved to work for the luxury Hyatt hotel and Parliament House, before moving
overseas to work in wonderful French restaurants in the UK and Canada. In 2011, the couple moved to Ballarat, when Paul was hired as head pastry chef at the award-winning Peppers Resort in Hepburn Springs. From then on, the couple has never looked back. Speaking of the region, Paul says, “It has the best lifestyle on offer – fresh produce grown locally, great activities, great people, and community.” Le Péché Gourmand is the Williams’ first solo venture, and their wealth of baking and hospitality experience, combined with their love for top quality produce, has ensured a recipe for success in their undertaking.
Le Péché Gourmand offers a wonderful French café experience, and the locals have been quick to notice. It is busy more often than not in this charming patisserie. The open fire and cosy lounge are particularly inviting on a chilly day. Head Baker/Chef, Paul, evokes vivid memories of France, through a wide assortment of traditionally made pastries, breads and more. From a perfectly baked light rye, to the popular Millefeuille, to the traditional croissant with beautiful French butter and homemade jam; there are treats to please all tastebuds here. Importantly, tea and coffee are taken as seriously as pastry and bread here, and whether you’re after a strong, long black or a fresh pot of tea, you’ll also enjoy a good brew here.
Le Péché Gourmand is proud to support others in the region, using local producers Istra Smallgoods for cured meats, Tuki farm’s lamb and trout, Buninyong blueberries, Meredith Dairy goat cheese and, when in season, local fruits.
Sure to tantalise more than just a sweet tooth, this boutique patisserie is packed with surprises. Come and enjoy a French-inspired lunch, a lazy Sunday breakfast, or take home some freshly baked treats to spoil that someone special.
