Lagoon has been winning awards since it opened in 1986. It was a labour of love for Vania and George Harrison; and now their children, Andrew Harrison and Jonni Nicolaou, uphold the reputation of the family business. While running a business with a sibling may seem like a feat, Andrew and Jonni complement each other to form a winning partnership.

Their right-hand man is Executive Chef, Emmanuel Efstathiadis, who started with them as an apprentice many years ago and then returned for good. His passion for the industry and forward-thinking approach has taken Lagoon’s dishes to new heights with cutting-edge techniques and meticulous sourcing. Emmanuel works with local fisherman to get the best catch straight off the boat. Flathead, crabs and bream come from the lakes, and the harbour boats deliver live Eastern Rock lobsters and snapper.

As soon as you walk in, the aromas of butter, citrus, seasonings and herbs waft out from the open kitchen. If that doesn’t make you hungry, the menu certainly will. Start your seafood feast with a selection of oysters, served as you like, before moving onto the entrees, such as the yellow fin tuna carpaccio with avocado salsa and chilli lime vinaigrette, or the covetable Black Lip abalone, pan-seared in garlic and lemon butter.

When you’re ready for more, the mains menu awaits – seafood fans can opt for the Queensland mud crab, or the grilled John Dory with Western Australian scampi served in a champagne and basil beurre blanc, while meatlovers and vegetarians will also find plenty of tempting options. If you can’t pick between surf and turf, enjoy the best of both worlds with the eye fillet of beef topped with Queensland bugs and chorizo jus.

For the ultimate seafood selection, get your hands dirty with a hot and cold seafood platter: you’ll be treated to a selection of lobster, calamari, octopus, scallops, Balmain and Moreton Bay bugs, blue swimmer crab, oysters, prawns and smoked salmon.

Nothing pairs better with ocean views and seafood than the perfect drink, and Lagoon offers local and international wines and beers to suit everyone’s tastes. Whatever you choose, your meal is not complete without a decadent dessert: the Noisette créme brûlée with hazelnut and toffee is a highlight.
