Riverina Grove was born out of a passion for gourmet food and the rich variety of local produce available in the Riverina. The family owned business creates a selection of fine gourmet products with quality, consistency and passion remaining at the forefront of their operations for more than 60 years.
Italian migrants, Aurelio and Bianca Marangon, moved to Griffith in the early 1950s and established the roots of Riverina Grove in 1966. As the couple settled into life in Australia, they started processing and selling olives under the name Koala Gourmet Foods.
In 1984, the couple’s son, Louis moved back home to Griffith with a degree in food technology and experience working for multinational food manufacturers under his belt. As Aurelio was ready to retire, Louis purchased the company and set to work developing the range and expanding distribution.
For more than 30 years Louis has worked hard to expand his parents’ small business into what Riverina Grove is today. The business produces more than 25 products under its four brands – Riverina Grove, Aurelio, Gusto and Bum Hummers – and is involved in contract packing for private label companies, boutique olive groves and more.
As the company is based in the Riverina area, they have access to an abundance of fresh, diverse local produce – which makes up 85% of the ingredients used in Riverina Grove’s products. The range is also entirely preservative free, GM free and made from all natural ingredients. In addition they also offer a large number of gluten free products.
Riverina Grove’s range is Italian inspired, ranging from salad dressings, sauces, tapenades and relishes to pickled onions, plums in port, garlic blends and the product that started it all – olives. The range of olives includes black olives in fennel and lemon, green olives with lemon pepper, garlic olives, and Mediterranean style olives. While each product can be purchased individually, Riverina Grove also offers hampers full of delicious produce.
In an effort to keep up with 21st century demands, all Riverina Grove products can be purchased online and shipped Australia wide. Alternatively customers are more than welcome to stop by the factory and shop, at which free tastings of all products are offered six days a week.
Tours are also available so customers can see where the magic happens.
At the shopfront, guests can sit down and enjoy a coffee, freshly roasted by local supplier, Art of Espresso, or pick up an antipasto platter to enjoy in the evening. The staff are friendly and hospitable and are more than happy to guide and make suggestions to customers.
Louis Marangon has transformed his parent’s olive processing business into a small legacy. Riverina Grove has become synonymous with quality and consistency, but a passion for creating good quality gourmet food has always remained central to the business. Riverina Grove is a business to truly marvel.
