Noosa Beach House Peter Kuruvita
16 Hastings St, Noosa Heads QLD

Peter Kuruvita started his food career in a local seafood restaurant and worked his way up to a Three Star Michelin restaurant in England. He now owns three restaurants – two in Fiji – has hosted three television series and has published two books.
Peter knew he wanted a career in food since he was a child, cooking traditional cuisine with his grandmother in his father’s home-town of Colombo, Sri Lanka. His first television show, My Sri Lanka with Peter Kuruvita took him back home where he relived memories and food experiences that led him to become the celebrated chef he is today.
Seafood has also always had a strong influence on Peter’s cooking. Beginning his extensive career in a seafood restaurant in southern Sydney, Peter’s roots have always stayed with him. Famed for establishing Flying Fish Sydney, then transporting the concept to both his Flying Fish restaurants in Fiji, fresh regional seafood has always been the focus. Peter’s newest venture, Noosa Beach House, is situated by the beautiful, clear waters of the coast so it is no surprise he makes the most of the abundance of local seafood here too.
The restaurant showcases a variety of local produce from Noosa spanner crabs to the Mooloolaba gold band snapper, Hervey Bay scallops and Gympie redclaws. Peter’s passion for simple, flavour-filled seafood is evident across the menu. Take for example the Sri Lankan snapper curry served with coconut sambol and steaming basmati.
Noosa Beach House also offers fresh seafood of the day steamed with flavours of ginger, chilli and shallots, either flash fried with cracked black pepper or sweet and simple with sea salt and pepper. Local produce remains the star of the show with sides of Gympie beans and homemade Kenilworth yoghurt available to round out any meal.
There is also an all-day bar where you can enjoy a beer in the midday sun or a glass of wine as the sun goes. The bar menu upholds Peter’s standards of excellent food; you won’t find any dull pretzels or simple salted nuts here. Freshly shucked oysters in red wine vinegar, slow-cooked goat curry served alongside rice and warm roti, or spiced chickpea and turtle bean salad with a choice of fresh ocean trout or shredded chicken; there are so many endless gourmet possibilities that you might not even want to leave the bar!
You can also start your morning with a full buffet breakfast, including all the usual suspects of pancakes, bacon and muesli served alongside designer omelettes and a ‘make your own’ juice bar. So there really is something for everyone.
Aptly named, the Noosa Beach House oozes that holiday feel we dream about every Monday morning. Crisp white interiors with light wooden accents and walls of windows ensure that the restaurant is always flooded with warm light. The bright green ferns hanging in white baskets from the roof and the colourful patterned cushions scattered around give a clean, relaxed vibe where you can feel like you’re on holiday everyday.
There’s also dining room cocooned for privacy with seating for up to 12 people. A sheer veil separates this luxurious space creating an intimate setting for special occasions.
