Frankston’s immensely popular Southside Social has officially landed in Windsor, with the recent opening of Southside Central. Be it the 14 head-turning floor-to-ceiling murals that cover the walls, the sound of sizzling burgers wafting from the open kitchen or the first sweet sip of a fruity cocktail, Chapel Street’s newest hangout has something for everyone.

One step through the door confirms that Southside Central is about as trendy as you can get, complete with its dimly lit, graffiti-covered walls mimicking a quintessentially Melbourne laneway. Spanning across two floors, the ground level reveals a relaxed, diner-style restaurant, whilst upstairs plays host to lounge area, bar, and open-air deck, complete with a resident DJ.

The playful menu is packed full of delicious treats, from small bites to loaded fries and burgers. The mac’n’cheese with bacon crispies and the Jalapeno poppers with sour cream have already proven immensely popular, catering for everyone’s comfort food cravings.

As if that’s not enough, there is a complete set of ‘Fancy Fries’, ranging from poutine to cheese to taco fries complete with salsa, queso fresco and guacamole.

Burgers are the star of the show, with an innovative takes on the traditional. A favourite from Southside Social’s Frankston’s menu makes an appearance – the Fatto 5-0 with a double pattie, triple bacon and mac’n’cheese. New additions also feature, like the Harlem burger, sandwiching southern hot fried chicken, cheddar and maple mayo between two buttermilk waffles.

Each level comes equipped with a separate bar, stocked with craft beer and cider as well as a daring and innovative cocktail menu. What’s more, Southside Central is putting a cheeky twist on the humble milkshake with their spiked alternatives. From the chocolate fudge spiked with Baileys, to a slightly more obscure Reskin milkshake with Belvedere Vodka, nostalgia has never tasted so good.

With tunes spinning old-school vinyl on Friday and Saturday nights, Southside Central is making its mark on Chapel Street as the new go-to for a boogie with a burger and a brew.
