Fish and Burger CO.

Doncaster’s Fish and Burger CO. is reinventing the wheel, bringing words like contemporary and sophisticated to the humble fish and chip shop.
Standing out from its plain surroundings on Doncaster Road, Fish and Burger CO. makes a statement with its signature black matte walls and red neon sign that continue inside the venue. Custom-made wooden furniture keeps everything sleek, with exposed brick walls adding to the hipster vibe. High ceilings and plenty of natural light highlight the fresh and modern look.
The extensive menu begins with burgers in four different varieties. Beef includes the ‘Hey Hombre’ with American cheddar, bacon, jalapenos, lettuce, tomato, pickles, Spanish onion and chipotle mayo. Free-range panko crumbed chicken has three different incarnations and there’s also lamb with all the Greek style add-ons, as well as seafood and veg options.
As the name suggests, it’s not just burgers, so you can opt for fresh fish and pair with one of the salads or a hearty serving of chips. Crunch on the crispy tempura batter or go light with the grilled option, cooked in rice bran oil and seasoned with the Fish and Burger CO.’s unique herb and spice blend. If you’re after something fancier, check out the ‘Ocean’ menu with Atlantic salmon, grilled pesto prawns or grilled calamari.
Sides start healthy with salads, such as the quinoa, baby beetroot and goat’s cheese with fresh mint, roasted nuts, green beans and pomegranate dressing, or a bed of brown rice. Share some signature thick-cut herb chips or crispy fries, or go all out with the American waffle fries covered in Kraft cheese, jalapenos, spring onion and chipotle mayo.
If you’ve still got room for dessert the super shakes are almost too pretty (and too big) to eat. The flavours change frequently but expect creations such as nutty caramel popcorn, red velvet and Cadbury picnic. Drinks include craft beer and ciders, red and white wines, organic colas and fizzy drinks, juices, teas and coffees.
There’s even a happy hour from 4pm to 6pm weekdays and if the alcohol has you feeling peckish you can order from a range of happy hour tapas such as crispy duck spring rolls, cheesy arancini and sliders.
