Empire Steak South Yarra
592 Chapel Street, South Yarra VIC
03 9826 0326
After the roaring success of its CBD venue on Little Collins Street, Empire Steak has crossed the river and trotted over to the hustle and bustle of Chapel Street to set up a second location for the steak lovers of South Yarra.
There really is nothing quite like a perfectly cooked steak. However, more often than not we see restaurants adding all the flourishes to a point that this piece of natural Australian beauty is overshadowed by its accompaniments – and that’s no way to treat a good cut of beef.
Thanks to Empire Steak, this habit of outshining some of the country’s best produce has been nipped in the bud. Melbourne’s kings of the steak sandwich, these guys pride themselves on using quality local ingredients, topped off with good old fashioned service to create fast food that does not skimp on flavour nor health.
Joining the old favourites from their CBD menu, Empire Steak South Yarra will be welcoming a few new items to the menu. Diners will be able to sink their teeth into ‘The Smoko’, porterhouse steak served with cheese, bacon, mayonnaise and smokey BBQ sauce, ‘The Scorcher’, porterhouse, jalapeños, pickles, aioli and chilli sauce, and ‘The Lot’, porterhouse, cooked egg, cheese, bacon, caramelised onion, fresh tomato, lettuce, shaved beetroot and house made BBQ sauce, as well as a delicious selection of steak salads.
Housed in some prime Chapel Street digs, the South Yarra fit out is inspired by some classic Aussie vibes. Picture an old-school local milk bar crossed with some funky ‘70s beach culture and you’ve got Empire Steak.
Keeping it cool, casual and delicious but never taking themselves too seriously, Empire Steak fits into Melbourne’s foodie scene perfectly. Nevertheless, it has successfully drifted from the current burger, shake and chips trend to please the masses with the triumphant return of a home grown, cult classic – the humble steak sandwich.
