Just when you thought Chapel Street couldn’t get any busier, the chef behind some of Melbourne’s favourite kebabs, Shane Delia, has opened Biggie Smalls Kebabs in the heart of Windsor’s foodiest strip.
Expect to see favourites that put Biggie’s flagship Smith Street store on the map, including the Biggie Snack Pack (or B.S.P, if you’re down with the Biggie lingo) with chicken, bacon and gravy. However, the Windsor shopfront is no clone. Equipped with menu staples unique to its south side locale, such as the ‘secret’ kbab known only as the ‘O.D.B’, which is said to contain pork and prawn shumai, hoisin mayo, pickled ginger slaw and chilli jam.
With beers from Brick Lane Brewery Co. and classy cocktails made with Four Pillars gin, you’re not going to go thirsty. Windsor staples include a seasonally rotating gin and juice combo (which is fancier than it sounds with flavours such as pomegranate, cloudy apple with spiced syrup). And you won’t have to settle for tinnies of beer either, because Brick Lane’s lager and IPA is available on tap.
With a state-of-the art sound system, inventive menu and exciting drinks, southside kebab fans now have even fewer reasons to leave their beloved burb.
