The creators behind the Chapel Street’s lush Abacus Bar & Kitchen have taken their hip hospitality business model out east, opening Abacus All Day in Ringwood’s Eastland Town Square precinct.
The new venue lives up to its name, serving up breakfast, lunch, dinner, cocktails and drinks all day and late into the night with a kitchen armed with by a team of talented chefs.
Co-owner Chris Connolly (Top Paddock) is joined by Thomas O’Sullivan (Scotts of Mayfair, Rockpool) as head chef. Chris and Thomas’ vision is consistent with the original South Yarra cafe in that they prioritise fresh Victorian produce and local suppliers to produce the freshest and highest-quality fare.
By day, expect to see classic cafe offerings like free-range poached eggs on wood-fired toast with all the trimmings, as well as more inventive dishes such as sweet ricotta dumplings with rhubarb and strawberry salad or the ‘deconstructed sushi rock’ with pickled black rice and finger lime. Whichever you choose, pair it with a coffee made from fresh St ALi beans. By night, opt for tapas style dining with a selection of rock oysters, white anchovy bruschetta and Mornington olives, or treat yourself to something a little larger, like the Wagyu beef bresaola. Pair it with a summer mimosa with watermelon, mint, pineapple and topped with sparkling wine and you’ve scored yourself quite the evening feast.
All of this is to be enjoyed from one of the best seats in the entire Eastland Town Square complex. With 320sqm of the cafe to stretch across and a funky and edgy fit out, thanks to interior architects ST|YLE, there’s a good chance you’ll end up staying for much longer than anticipated.
