Meet KX Cycle, the newest member of the KX Fitness family. Derived from Kaizen, a Japanese term meaning ‘change for the better’, KX seeks to deliver the Kaizen experience, whereby participants can see the difference in their body and mind after each class. It’s all about gradual progression and staying motivated to achieve big changes.
Founded by Aaron Smith in 2010, KX now has studios throughout Victoria and New South Wales and has established a loyal following. Ali Rosenberg and Eli Censor are the team behind the KX Cycle operation. Eli is a qualified Pilates instructor and also specialises in cycle, kettlebell and boxing training. Together with Ali’s background in marketing, the studio has a perfect combination of style and substance.
Sitting right on Swan Street is an architecturally designed open plan fitness studio with polished concrete floors, exposed bricks and neon signage, reminiscent of the uber-cool warehouse spaces of New York and LA. It’s a boutique, personalised environment, replete with chilled water, complimentary towels and sleek shower and change facilities. The 42 stationary bikes and a high-tech sound system complete the fitness credentials.
The highly tailored approach applies to the classes as well. KX offers a fitness bonus on top of your normal spin class – a full body workout. Traditional indoor cycle techniques are combined with upper body moves, hand weights and core exercise for a head-to-toe fitness session. Work up a sweat in the 45-minute freestyle class, timetabled mornings and afternoons during the week and mornings on the weekend.
With a pumping playlist and fun vibe, the energy is infectious and you’ll be grooving away to the choreography in no time. Even if you’re a seasoned athlete, KX Cycle works to support your sports training, helping you enhance your resistance to injury and develop core strength and alignment.
There’s no need to skip the gym if you’ve had a rough day. The instructors provide plenty of different moves and various levels of intensity, so you can adjust the class to suit your ability. Each of the trainers brings their own unique flavour and energy to the classes and the repertoire of moves and music is changed up frequently so you’ll never get that Groundhog Day gym feeling.
KX also runs themed rides to inject a bit more fun into your workout. Get into the theme, such as hip hop Fridays or Taylor Swift–your 45 minutes will speed by. Often, KX’s neighbour Nutrition Bar will help out with some samples of reinvigorating smoothies and energy balls to replenish your body after smashing out a workout. KX’s Pilates classes are also in the same studio, meaning you can look after your whole body in the one place.
