If you find yourself peckish and wandering around Fairfield, follow your nose to Two Fat Monks. Pull up a seat, order a latte and a hot croissant, and sit back and enjoy Fairfield’s newest classic cafe digs.

Co-owner Ulysses Vass launched Two Fat Monks quietly in December 2016, and already the cafe has shown no signs of slowing down. Backed by a faithful following of locals and regulars, brunch at Two Fat Monks is a busy affair, with breakfast cocktails just part of the appeal. By popular demand, the team has extended the hours to accommodate dinner on Friday and Saturday nights, so you can get an after-hours taste at Two Fat Monks.

The designers, Urban Workroom, have worked their magic on Two Fat Monks’ space, developing an industrial warehouse vibe with modern twists, thanks to the floor to ceiling windows that front onto Wingrove Street. New additions to the cafe coming later this year include an on-site roastery, which as well as spreading the fresh aromas of roasting coffee form corner to corner, will add to the industrial aesthetic.

While not yet roasted on-site, deliciously flavoursome coffee is constantly being brewed and lapped up throughout the day. Single origin comes in cold drip, cold brew and classic espresso, served with your choice of Bonsoy, spelt and almond milks.

Enjoy your coffee with a bite to eat from the breakfast menu, such as the mushroom benedict with toasted brioche topped with poached eggs, vincotto and truffled hollandaise, sprinkled with goat’s fetta. If you’re feeling adventurous, why not follow it up with a signature breakfast cocktail? Like the Goldentini – part espresso martini and part chai latte, infused with chai vodka and sprinkled with cinnamon. Or the Dirty Mary, complete with a strip of bacon.

Lunch bites consist of a combination of all-day breakfast items and additional dishes, such as the 300 gram braised lamb shoulder served with hummus, Greek salad and grilled pita bread. Vegetarians are catered for with the hearty vegetable pot pie with dressed greens and tomato relish.

Indulge in dinner while sipping on a fruity cocktail, like the mojito passion, with passionfruit pulp, white rum and mint leaves, or a refreshing strawberry and basil concoction spiked with a dash of vodka. Alternatively, work your way through the list of tap and bottled beers, bubbles, whites, rosés and reds in plentiful offer.

As if that’s not enough, Two Fat Monks is baking delicious breads and pastries in-house, so you can take home some fresh produce to enjoy all day long.
