The name is novel but their dedication to organic and healthy meals is not. At Novel Kitchen, customers walk in empty handed and leave with not only a full belly but arms laden with takeaway meals for the week.
As many people struggle to find the time to cook healthy meals for the family, the ever-changing menu at Novel Kitchen takes the burden off your shoulders and makes healthy eating easier.
Steve Ferry has been running the kitchen for the last two years, but the venue has been operating for five. The team is highly qualified in the hospitality field, and they all have a focus on promoting healthy eating, community values and high quality service. Steve comes from a background in sales and marketing and noticed that many businesses were moving away from traditional quality and service in favour of online function and price. Novel Kitchen works to buck this trend with great service for high quality produce that is not only good for you but also tastes great.
The space is uncomplicated and simple and the humble design will make you feel right at home. With simple wooden floorboards, wooden tables and a family friendly environment, you’ll feel like you’re sitting in your own home tucking into a delicious home-made meal. Novel Kitchen’s first point of call is to provide healthy meals, juice and coffee for the dine-in and take home customers, but it also offers second-hand novels for sale in the cafe, with all the proceeds going to local clubs and organisations.
‘Novel Kitchen takes a healthy dose of high quality ingredients, mixes it with a generous sprinkle of attentive service and dishes up delicious meals for both eating in and taking home.’
The menu changes daily depending on what’s fresh and what the customer wants. The meals are cooked on the premises using fresh produce that’s sourced from reputable local growers and suppliers. The two key ingredients that are found in every meal are care and time, bringing out the fresh flavours of every ingredient.
The all day menu will suit everybody, with options such as Eggs Rancheros, a great combination of free range eggs, fresh salsa topped with chilli, or the organic bircher muesli with apple and blueberries, hazelnuts, pepitas, linseeds, sunflower seeds, yoghurt and honey. Savoury savants will love the homemade beans served in a rich herb and tomato sauce and topped with marinated feta on top of sourdough toast.
If it’s a take home meal that you’re after, look no further than the lightly spiced lentil and pumpkin patties served on a quinoa and almond salad with homemade relish and natural yoghurt. Or grab the sweet potato and cashew nut burger, served with caramelised onion, fresh spinach and aioli with Novel Kitchen slaw on ciabatta.
