Situated just 40 kilometres from Melbourne’s CBD, in the southeast suburb of Bangholme, sits a foodie’s playground in the form of The Craft & Co Farm.
Spanning some 40 acres, complete with a winery, cellar door and cafe, it’s equal parts lush vineyard, vast open spaces and abundant fresh air. Sister business to the original The Craft & Co venue in Collingwood, the sprawling space boasts less big-city bustle and more friendly farm fare.
Owner, Paul Baggio, is a true veteran of the Australian food and beverage industry. Since the late 1990s, he’s been designing and supplying production and packaging equipment to wineries, breweries, coffee roasters, food and beverage producers, distilleries, dairies and cured meat producers across the country.
The Craft & Co Farm is the culmination of Paul’s wealth of experience, where a healthy appetite for food, drink, and the story behind the producers is perpetually encouraged.
Coffee is roasted on-site at The Craft & Co’s Collingwood venue. Head Roaster, Tony Singarella, maintains the brand’s farm to table ethos, nursing a personal relationship with growers from some of the top coffee producing regions around the world.
The Craft & Co Farm house blend is a mixture of beans from Brazil, Guatemala and Ethiopia, offering a well-balanced brew perfect for espresso or milk-based coffee. To keep you on your toes, there is a variety of rotating single origins, perfect for expanding your coffee vocabulary.
Open for breakfast and lunch from Thursday to Sunday, The Craft & Co Farm ensures the dining menu is an ode to the latest and greatest seasonal ingredients, sourced right from its very own backyard. Tuck into zucchini fritters with coriander-chilli yoghurt and cucumber apple salad for breakfast; spaghetti alla panna with bacon, mushrooms and broccoli for lunch, or a shareworthy antipasto platter any time of they day.
In addition to the coffee on offer, the beverage list is a neat selection of The Craft & Co’s very own beer, wine and spirits – grown, brewed and distilled inhouse for your drinking pleasure – plus some local Aussie favourites thrown in for good measure.
The fit-out at The Craft & Co Farm is modern farmhouse fresh. Think white subway-style tiles with black grout, warm timber furniture and plenty of outdoor seating overlooking the stunning natural scenery.
Saturdays and Sundays feature live music gigs to keep the troops entertained and there’s plenty of space for little ones to run around and play.
Whether you’re a local or a day-tripper, you’ll find laidback solace at The Craft & Co Farm, where local fare, great coffee and warm vibes win every time.
