Whether you’re searching for the finest gourmet ingredients or want to sit back and enjoy a produce-driven feast, Emporio Antico has it all. Part restaurant and tasting room, part boutique retail store, this lounge-style space offers a product or dining experience for every occasion.
The Antico family established the Emporio Antico brand back in 1938. One of the first Australian exporters of fresh produce to the rest of the world, the company has gone on to become a world leader in fine food exports. After developing a strong reputation for supplying restaurants and retail outlets with exotic fine foods, the logical next step was to create an eatery of their own.
In 2016, under the leadership of Matthew Antico, the company’s first restaurant was established in Hong Kong. Today, it is a place where locals can pick up a range of fresh produce or enjoy a glass of wine and a meal.
As would be expected from a family with roots in fresh food exporting, the offerings at Emporio Antico are seasonal and produce driven. Using products from a carefully selected range of truffles, caviar, specialty juices, pepperberries, live seafood and more, the menu is designed to let the natural flavours of the ingredients shine.
Overseeing the luxurious food offerings is Executive Chef, Lai Chun-Wah, who brings a wealth of knowledge about local ingredients and culinary techniques to the post. With experience at Michelin-starred venues throughout Hong Kong, Macau, London and the US, Chef Lai has a solid understanding of a diverse range of cuisines.
With the help of a skilled kitchen team and input from his mentor, Hong Kong local celebrity chef Roland Schuller, Lai creates a selection of dishes with style and finesse. Choose from an array of a la carte offerings such as crostini topped with simple condiments like truffled mustard, or more gourmet creations like delicate and sweet Japanese crab meat with cherry tomatoes.
Each dish highlights the Emporio Antico product range, with a standout being the black truffle risotto. Lai and the team take a minimalist approach to the dish, using black winter truffles sourced from Australia’s most southern state with a combination of simple ingredients like butter and parmesan that allow the subtle mushroom flavours to shine.
Guests can also take part in a set menu experience or indulge in a caviar tasting, served with traditional condiments to boot – think chives, onion, creme fraiche, egg white and yolk, and balik smoked salmon.
Finish on a sweet note and sample the delicious baked panettone and sake ice cream, expertly paired with date mousse, yoghurt and lime.
The wine list is equally uncomplicated with a simple selection that enhances the degustation offerings. Enjoy with a meal or settle into one of the cosy chesterfields with a bottle of your choosing. After a tipple, browse the selection of premium gourmet products on offer at the retail outlet. While the company specialises in fresh truffles and fine caviar, you will find an array of premium products available for purchase.
Built on a love for fresh produce, Emporio Antico gives premium quality ingredients the attention they deserve. Whether you’re enjoying a full degustation, picking up a gourmet gift or savouring a glass of wine, Emporio Antico offers something for all.
