Hatch & Co. is warm and rustic, with an ethos of bringing together friends and family who are in the mood for hearty, home-style food.
Hatch & Co. is owned by the Moubment Group, three brothers and sister who spent their childhood working in small businesses. Elie, Johnny, Mel and Katie Moubarak have since crafted an impressive portfolio of boutique venues such as Lychee Lounge and Gerard’s Bistro. Hatch & Co. was intended to fill a gap in Brisbane’s comfortable dining options, and Moubment set out to create a welcoming venue for dining that didn’t compromise on quality. They have succeeded spectacularly.
Its purpose is to offer delicious slow cooked food for all to enjoy without the trappings of a formal dining scene, which is reflected in the decor. With soft wood furnishings, white tiled walls and gentle yellow lights hanging from the industrially exposed-ducting ceiling, Hatch & Co. manages to be homely and rustic, industrial, and sophisticated all at once. The main feature of the venue is an indoor bookshelf-garden full of greenery running the length of one wall.
Hatch & Co. opens at 11:30am until late on weekdays but extends its hours on the weekend, remaining open a little longer for the drinking crowd. That being said, the menu offers a diverse range of food to more than satisfy any appetite, at any time of day. Choices range from options such as smoked paprika and cumin spiced chicken wings with saffron yoghurt, to main plates such as the parmesan gnocchi with prosciutto, peas and parsley. Pizzas such as the chorizo, caramelised onion, feta and oregano are also available, as well as large share plates. With options like the 16-hour braised beef short rib, with roasted seasonal vegetables and red wine jus, or the slow roasted lamb shoulder, served with garlic, watercress, lemon and lamb jus, it’s hard to know what to choose.
Take-away is also available, with options featuring highlights from the á la carte menu, pizzas, snacks and sides.
An extensive beverage menu is offered at the venue, including a variety of wines, ciders, beers, champagne, spirits and cocktails. Local offerings sit alongside bottles from all over the world, including America, France, Japan, Italy and Spain. Venue manager, Hayley Davis, and the talented team of staff will help guide you on the perfect choice to complement your meal.
Hatch & Co. prides itself on using only top quality, sustainable produce. All produce is sourced locally from the sunny state, with fruit and vegetables sourced seasonally from Bundaberg, the Scenic Rim and Wide Bay Burnett Region. The tiger prawns from the lunch and dinner menu hail from the Gold Coast, while Hatch & Co.’s prized olive oil is sourced from a farm in Burnett – just a few hours from Brisbane.
Mel said, “I think what distinguishes Brisbane from Sydney and Melbourne is our love for casual dining due to our great weather and laidback lifestyle.”
Hatch & Co. lives and breathes this sentiment, with its excellent cuisine paired with a relaxed dining environment.
