Opened back in 1999 by the Moubment Group, Lychee Lounge was the first venture into hospitality from the trio of brothers and sister. Elie, Mel, Johnny and Katie Moubarak have since expanded their portfolio to include a number of other impressive venues including Gerard’s Bistro and Hatch & Co. After more than 15 years, Lychee Lounge remains a standout venue in the West End.
The interior of the venue is a perfect mix of East meets West, with golden fish scale walls, an red backlit drinks cabinet, wooden bar facade and barbie doll chandeliers. Lychee Lounge is an experience best shared with friends and is the perfect place for a catch up over seriously good drinks and delicious food.
To complement the venue’s unique styling is an extensive drink selection unlike any other, with bar snacks and share plates to match. The venue manager is Pez Collier, who draws on a range of spirits, fresh produce and stunning flavour combinations that have put Lychee Lounge on the map as one of the best of Brisbane’s cocktail bars.
The Lychee Lounge Martini is the house specialty, composed of vodka, Cointreau, lychee liqueur, lychee juice and a dash of lime. For a memorable drink, order the Fire, Ashes and Apricots – Nuestra Soledad Mezcal, rose harissa, dried apricot, muscat and citrus. Beer buffs will appreciate the generous selection of ciders, beers and ales, including classic brews and craft beers. The wine list features drops from around Australia, as well as New Zealand, France and Spain.
The food menu is designed to pair perfectly with whatever you’re drinking, Start with some edamame beans with nori salt, before sampling any number of bar plates such as karaage chicken with sriracha mayo and honey soy chicken skewers. Move onto share boards and choose between a selection of sliders, a mixed charcuterie board, or a 1kg miso-glazed T-bone with fried shallots and ponzu butter. Of course the ‘share’ in ‘share board’ is just a recommendation…
