The Friday’s complex at the Riverside Centre certainly has a lot to offer – from its Waterline Restaurant and its Terrace Grill, to the Glamour Bar and Grand Deck function space, there’s certainly something for every occasion.
A Brisbane institution, Friday’s has been serving up great food from its modern Australian menu for nearly 30 years. Owned by the fifth generation Australian family, the Wellers, a family that has owned and operated over two dozen hotels and restaurants in Queensland over the years, Friday’s is the perfect spot for an end-of-day cocktail, a business lunch, or a well priced meal, all with spectacular views of the Brisbane River and the Story Bridge.
At the Waterline Restaurant, you can expect great table service and an á la carte menu offering classic modern dishes such as crispy skinned salmon, Paris mash, grilled asparagus, harissa and preserved lemon.
Executive Chef, Paul Pledge, also oversees the Terrace Grill, which has been “scaring vegetarians for 28 years”. Choose from boned lamb leg, quince, roast tomato and balsamic, local Queensland premium 1824 sirloin, or thick-cut rump steak. Also available is Angus rib on the bone from Victoria and eye fillet from the Darling Downs. A carnivore’s paradise!
The Terrace Grill is a large, generous space, with comfy chair and tables and a huge tree adorned with lights that echo the Story Bridge, visible in all its glory from the terrace. The Glamour Bar offers a touch of class with a long, sleek space and a stunning ceiling of curved hardwoods. Behind the wall of spirit bottles is a soft, light-washed split slate wall, quite imposing. The soft gold tones and gentle lighting reminds one of a Melbourne laneway bar. The perfect spot to carry on after you’ve finished your dinner on the Terrace or at the Waterline Restaurant.
Casual business lunches are well catered for with Friday’s range of ‘Business Burgers’. Your choices include The Leasing Agent, with beef, maple bacon, caramelized onion, egg, jarlsberg, tomato, lettuce and mayo; The Recruiter, with lemon chicken, Swiss, guacamole, tomato, lettuce and mayo, or The Lawyer, beef, lettuce, tomato, onion and chimichurri. All are served with fries and a drink, making it the perfect pit stop for a riverside lunch break.
Functions and events are hosted in a variety of spaces including on The Grand Deck, with stunning 180-degree views, a continuous indoor/outdoor space with a private bar and AV facilities. With a capacity of up to 75 people, it’s the perfect spot for a special birthday celebration, work function or other private party, or a private luncheon or dinner for up to 40 people.
Friday’s at the Riverside Centre certainly offers it all; it’s no wonder they’ve been going strong for nearly 30 years.
