Jl. Bumbak Duah No. 41-45, Kerobokan Kuta Utara, Kabupaten Badung, Bali 80361
Think Umalas is all rice paddies and yoga? Think again. Kembali Bumbak is Umalas’ newest recruit to the dining scene, boasting upmarket eats and a Seminyak-style menu. With all the makings of a much-loved local, you’ll want to bump this one to the top of your list when travelling around Canggu, Umalas and the like.
Kembali is all about all-day dining – because really, who wants to get up early on holidays to make it to breakfast? The brains behind the brand have already tried and tested their culinary expertise at Nüde and Ruko cafes in Canggu, so it’s safe to say that they know a thing or two about serving up some fabulous feasts.
You won’t be disappointed by Kembali’s menu. We’re talking crispy waffles doused in house-made custard, candied hazelnuts and berries served with a hefty dollop of vanilla ice cream. Perhaps it’s charcoaled bagels slathered in cream cheese and smoked salmon that tickles your fancy. On the other hand, Bali being the healthy hub that it is, matcha green bowls, and cauliflower rice with grilled halloumi, pistachio dukkha and beetroot will appeal to your inner yogi. Pair it with a health kick juice (or jump on the Kombucha bandwagon), and you’ll be feeling fresher than ever.
When lunchtime rolls around, bring on the burgers. From black Angus beef burgers to pork belly sliders and crispy fried chicken Bahn Mi, these bad boys are designed to delight. Dinner follows suit; however, things are turned up a notch on the fancy scale. Start with fresh tuna tartare with wasabi mayo and passionfruit dressing or burrata with caramelised pear atop soft, doughy Turkish bread. Next up is twice cooked duck leg with young mango, coconut and chilli or even a chickpea Malay spiced curry.
A handful of international beers and wines also come out to play by night. Sip on a Bintang if you must – but that duck leg and a glass of French burgundy sounds pretty damn good.
Where you’ll be seated as all of this culinary magic takes place is worth noting. Kembali is decked out with a simple and chic décor that perfectly captures that quintessential Bali feel. Whether you’re beating the heat from the sleek indoor dining area or soaking up some rays in the courtyard, it’s not a bad place to spend the morning… or afternoon… or evening… or just simply spend the day.
