Parisi’s Restaurant is part of an Italian culinary dynasty. Named after the founder, Antonio Parisi, the restaurant serves traditional Italian style food that has satisfied customers for generations.
The Parisi legacy began in 1967, when Antonio Parisi left his Sicilian home and came to Australia as a pizza maker. He was the proud owner of Marcellina’s Restaurant, a place infamous for serving exceptional quality food until 5am. In 1975 his son Andy opened up La Trattoria Restaurant, continuing the family lineage of Italian restaurants in Adelaide. Now, three generations later, Antonio’s grandchildren are offering a new dining experience at Parisi, which continues to showcase the family recipes with an additional modern flair.
Growing up in the hospitality industry, Co-owners, Simone Antoni and Chantal Parisi, have shared their experience and family recipes with Head Chef, Donia Agwaramgbo. Donia has more than 30 years cooking experience, and trained under some of Adelaide’s best Italian chefs before opening a couple of restaurants. Donia joined the team at Parisi’s 13 years ago and during this time she has injected flavours from her Lebanese background as well as Nigerian flavours she’s learned from her husband – allowing each dish to carry a unique taste, balanced by the flavours of the old and new.
The food menu focuses on traditional Italian dishes, such as gourmet and traditional pizza, pasta and mains. The food is honest, rustic and the proportions are always generous. All the dishes are made with fresh ingredients including a variety of unique cheeses and meats.
Local produce infuses the menu, with Clare Valley Gold Meats being used throughout. The Vongole Salciccie highlights fresh produce, using fresh garlic, peas, chilli, chorizo and cockle clams, tossed in a light tomato and white wine sauce. In winter Donia supplies succulent slow-cooked lamb shanks, while the eye fillet with sautéed spinach is a customer favourite all year round.
Parisi’s also have an extensive starters menu, which is the perfect introduction into their traditional flavoured dishes. A favourite is the Parisi’s Tasting Plate, which includes fresh salt and pepper squid, vegetarian braciole, chargrilled prawns and mussels.
The restaurant provides a variety of local wines, including South Australian flavours such as Penfold’s Grandfathers, Hewitson Wines from the Barossa and Galway Pipe Tawny Port. These wines are infused with local flavour and enhance the Italian dining experience.
In addition to the restaurant, Parisi’s also has a fully enclosed outdoor area called The Cage. Often adorned with flower candelabras, The Cage has played host to weddings, birthdays and corporate events, often attracting Adelaide’s fashion designers who choose to unwind with a glass of red and a gourmet pizza.
Becoming renowned as the eatery where traditional and modern Italian cuisine meets, this restaurant is cementing itself as iconic as it’s predecessors. A dining experience at Parisi’s brings not only authentic Italian flavour, but also an honest family approach to cooking and eating that has been passed down through culinary history.
