Let yourself be transported to a balmy summer’s night in Spain when you step inside this sleek venue. Like the Barcelona street it is named after, La Rambla Tapas Bar is a vibrant, fun and bustling dining destination.
With more than 25 years of collective hospitality experience, the three owners – Tomas Smith, Kyle Young and Stephanie Gibbs – knew together they could create something special. But it was only after a research trip to Barcelona that they decided to bring a slice of that Spanish culture back to the city of Adelaide.
Head Chef, José Miguel Lontoc, heads up the kitchen with more than 20 years of experience cooking authentic Spanish food. José brings unmatched passion for the cuisine he holds so close to heart and you can taste it in every bite.
The food menu offers a variety of Catalonian-style tapas dishes such as montaditos – a variety of toppings on crispy bread – including sautéd mushrooms and black truffles, or chorizo, cheese, pickled guindilla pepper and stuffed olives. There is also a generous selection of cured meats and cheeses to choose from. The outcome: authentic and delicious food that you’d be hard pressed to find without jumping on a plane.
The drinks menu offers a selection of Spanish beer and wines alongside other European varietals and some local South Australian drops.
Even the recipes for the 1-litre sangria jugs come straight from bartenders working on the Spanish harbour. You can choose from a bunch of different flavours, ranging from Plymouth Sloe gin, fresh orange and strawberries topped with soda water and rosé or the spiced rum and vanilla – Sailor Jerry, Vanilla Licor 43, fresh orange and lemon slices topped with red wine and cloudy apple juice.
If you want a drink all to yourself, the cocktail menu is full of favourites such as espresso martinis and negronis, as well as interesting takes on some of the classics. The bar staff are cocktail enthusiasts who will happily whip you up any cocktail your heart desires.
With three levels, two large bars, a lounge area and an upstairs outdoor deck, the spacious venue smoothly transitions from a humble tapas bar early in the night to a bustling cocktail bar late in the evenings.
La Rambla can accommodate functions on a case-by-case basis. They are happy to help with any sort of event you have in mind. On Fridays and Saturdays, DJs start playing music from 8pm to get the party started.
This is not a nightclub, but it is a fun bar with great food and exciting cocktails where you can let your hair down and enjoy a cheeky night out with friends.
