Across the road from Adelaide Central Market is a unique place – part bakery, part patisserie and part cafe, Market Street offers specialty coffee, sweet treats, hearty breakfast and lunch fare to hungry Adelaidians.
Market St was established in 2014 by the same talented group as created popular bakery, Dough, and Adelaide favourite, Say Cheese. While it features similar elements to that of its sibling venues – the inclusion of a deli and focus on baked goods for example – Market St is unique in its design, philosophy and offerings.
The cafe has become renowned around Adelaide for its awesome selection of delicious, flaky pastries, its killer brunch line up and consistently quality specialty coffee.
Coffee is provided by local roaster D’Angelo, who source premium quality green coffee beans from all over the world for use at Market St and numerous other venues across the state. Owned and operated by Tony D’Angelo, the company has a focus on achieving perfection in every cup of coffee their beans create.
The coffee, which includes batch brew and cold brew offerings, is supported by a strong line up of teas, juices and smoothies. All of these drinks have been designed to pair perfectly with any of the breakfast or lunch dishes on the menu.
Smaller bites at Market St include mouth watering toasties filled with options like silverside and gruyere or, for any cheese-lovers among you, taleggio, truffle parmesan and gruyere. Freshly baked muffins, tarts and pastries are also available, perfect for snacking on after a visit to the bustling market.
For something more substantial, Market St has become known for an epic steak sandwich, jam-packed with eye fillet, bacon, caramelised onion, house made aioli and potato chips. You can also try the snapper tacos with avocado salsa and chipotle mayo; the cauliflower fritters with green olive, freekah pilaf and preserved lemon yoghurt; or the falafel with hummus, roasted pumpkin and spiced chickpea.
Enjoy a relaxed brunch near the buzz of the coffee machine or pick a spot outside in the sunshine. Either way, the experience at Adelaide gem, Market St, is bound to be a lovely one.
