Come the first Friday in December, the simple act of buying a coffee will mean more than just getting your caffeine hit.
December 4 will see cafes across Sydney getting behind Coffee Change Day in support of the Eniwe Children’s Fund.
The fundraising initiative involves consumers buying two coffees: one for themselves and one to donate to the charity. The value of the second coffee is passed straight onto the initiative, the aim of which is to improve the lives of underprivileged and vulnerable children through various food, education and housing development initiatives in sub-Saharan Africa. Since 2010, the Fund has already raised over $300,000.
“One Change Coffee will feed 15 children for a day,” says founder Robyn Borruso.
“Alleviating poverty is not a task of charity; it is an act of justice. Food, water, shelter, good health, and an education are the birth right of all children. I was humbled and inspired by the children’s warmth and affection and decided I had to do something to improve their lives.”
